Bile is a type of digestive enzyme produced by the liver and helps in the emulsification of fat and cholesterol ingested into our system from food stuff. This test is used to detect jaundice, pruritus in pregnancy, and various liver and kidney disorders. It is recommended for people who experience fever, nausea, and vomiting, abdominal pain, symptoms of jaundice like yellow discolouring of eyes skin, etc. and for people with hereditary cholestatic syndrome, intrahepatic cholestasis during pregnancy, biliary cirrhosis, and sclerosing cholangitis.
